Sri Swami Vishwananda Makes a Surprise Visit to London
As a group, Bhakti Marga UK devotees, mostly located in London, have been trying to meet more often. In between visits to Sri Swami Vishwananda’s Shree Peetha Nilaya Centre in Germany and monthly Temple Prayers at the Sri Bhakti Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Feltham, we have been holding regular Kirtan evenings. On Saturday 22 November, we were scheduled to have one as usual.
However, this evening was different. Everyone arrived (a few more than usual) with a feeling of great anticipation as we had come to know that Swamiji was in London – and the previous evening said He would come to the scheduled Kirtan event.
Earlier in the evening, the singing took place as usual but it could be felt that everyone only had one thought on their mind- when will Swamiji arrive?! Everyone could feel the family atmosphere and it was easy to notice that there were a few new faces in the temple – people who had indirect contact with Swamiji through Atma Kriya Yoga and OM Healing but hadn’t met him in person.
Once we knew he was nearly at the door everyone rose up and Swamiji was greeted with Arati at the door.
After entering the temple Swamiji sang beautifully as always and uplifted everyone in the room. He then recited the whole Guru Gita and focused on two very important verses to highlight that the Guru’s Grace is essential to realising God. Swamiji ensured that everyone had a chance to sit in the small temple to hear Him recite. One devotee later commented that it felt like Swamiji was initiating everyone in to the Guru Gita, in particular the new people present.
After Swamiji finished reciting the Guru Gita everyone had the opportunity to talk in Satsang about their experiences with Him. A few of the people who spoke related experiences they had never shared before – but something about the evening compelled them to open up to the intimate group. During the Satsang, Swamiji also took the time to speak with new people.
Afterwards, Swamiji did Arati to Sri Bhakti Lakshmi Narasimha. This felt like a ‘seal’ had been put on the evening- It felt like all of us were closer and more of a family than we were just a few hours before. As always, it seemed that Swamiji had done ‘something’ – something full of His grace and blessings.
